The Biology of You™

Privacy Policy

1. Our commitment to your privacy

At The Biology of You™, understanding your biology requires us to work with information that is deeply personal.

This includes your health and family history, laboratory results, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle information, photographs and videos, consultation information and genetic information.

We understand the trust involved in sharing this information with us.

Our approach is simple: collect what we need, use it for the purpose we’ve explained, protect it appropriately, and be transparent about who and what technology may be involved.

This Privacy Policy explains how The Biology of You™ collects, uses, stores and protects personal information, and the rights you may have in relation to that information.

2. Who is responsible for your information?

The Biology of You™ is operated by:

Well Adjusted Pty Ltd
Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Privacy enquiries: privacy@thebiologyofyou.com

Well Adjusted Pty Ltd is responsible for personal information collected directly through The Biology of You™.

Some services involved in your Biology of You™ experience are provided by independent third parties. For example, genetic testing is performed by SmartDNA under its own terms, consent requirements and privacy practices. Your laboratory testing will also be performed by a third party of your choosing.

5. Your health and genetic information

Health and genetic information will receive additional protection under applicable privacy and data-protection laws.

Before you begin providing sensitive health information through The Biology of You™ Client Portal, you will be asked to read and sign our Client Informed Consent & Data Authorisation.

This explains what information we require, why we need it, how it may be processed and who may have access to it.

6. What happens to your DNA?

The Biology of You™ currently works with SmartDNA as its genetic testing provider.

Your physical DNA sample is provided to and analysed by SmartDNA.

The Biology of You™ does not receive, analyse or store your physical DNA sample.

The Biology of You™ receives the genetic results required to perform your personalised pathway analysis.

We then interpret those results through The Biology of You™ Method, considering your genetics alongside your health history, laboratory findings, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle, current physiology and other relevant information.

Genetic findings are not treated in isolation as a diagnosis or a prediction of what will happen to you.

SmartDNA is an independent genetic testing provider and has its own terms, consent requirements and privacy practices.

SmartDNA does not store raw data and it is deleted once the report is released to the Practitioner.

SmartDNA does not hold onto raw data or release it to any third party.

SmartDNA destroys DNA once a report is released to the Practitioner.

SmartDNA only releases reports directly to Practitioners.

7. How do we use artificial intelligence?

The Biology of You™ uses artificial intelligence as an assistive tool within parts of our reporting and analysis process.

AI can help our team work efficiently with large amounts of complex information and examine relationships across health history, laboratory findings, genetics, nutrition, lifestyle and other information.

However, there is an important distinction: AI is a tool within The Biology of You™ Method. It is not your practitioner. AI does not independently determine your recommendations or make decisions about your health.

Our reporting process is governed by The Biology of You™ Method, our proprietary frameworks and reporting protocols, and includes human review and practitioner oversight at every level.

Protecting your identity when we use AI

We understand that the use of AI with health information raises important questions about privacy — and we are cautious about it too. We believe AI can be an incredibly valuable tool when used responsibly, but convenience should never come at the expense of thoughtful handling of your personal information.

For this reason, as part of our reporting workflow, we take steps to minimise the personal identifying information provided to the AI environment used to assist with analysis and report preparation.

Before information is submitted, direct identifying details such as your full name, date of birth and address are withheld. Where helpful for preparing a personalised and readable report, we may use your first name only.

The purpose of this process is to reduce the likelihood that the health information being processed can be directly connected with an identifiable individual.

The Biology of You™ currently uses technology provided by OpenAI within its AI-assisted reporting workflow.

We periodically review the technology, providers, privacy settings and processes used within our AI-assisted reporting environment to ensure they remain appropriate for the nature and sensitivity of the information we handle.

8. Who can see your information?

Access to identifiable patient information is limited to authorised members of The Biology of You™ team where it is required for their role.

This may include authorised practitioners, members of the reporting team and operational staff involved in providing or administering your service.

9. Third-party service providers

The Biology of You™ uses third-party providers to help us deliver and operate our services.

Depending on your service, these may include providers involved in:

  • Genetic testing — SmartDNA
  • Client Portal hosting and application infrastructure — Vercel
  • Database and file storage — Vercel Postgres (Neon, hosted on AWS us-east-1 / N. Virginia) and Vercel Blob (region iad1, N. Virginia)
  • AI-assisted processing — OpenAI, pending confirmation of workspace type (see Section 7)
  • Email and communications — Resend and Cloudflare

Some providers process information on our behalf, while others — such as certain laboratories or genetic testing providers — may operate independently under their own privacy policies and legal responsibilities.

10. International processing

The Biology of You™ operates internationally.

Well Adjusted Pty Ltd is based in Dubai and our patients may be located in different countries. Some of the technology and service providers used to deliver our services also operate internationally.

As a result, information may in some circumstances be processed or stored in countries other than the country in which you live. In particular, Client Portal data (including the patient database and uploaded files) is hosted in the United States — Vercel Postgres (via Neon) in AWS us-east-1 (N. Virginia), and Vercel Blob in the iad1 region (also N. Virginia).

Where applicable privacy laws require particular safeguards for international transfers of personal information, appropriate measures will be used.

11. How do we protect your information?

We use organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, loss or misuse. Depending on the system involved, these may include:

  • authentication and account security
  • controlled access
  • role-based permissions
  • removal of directly identifying information before AI-assisted processing
  • secure data storage
  • backups
  • audit trails
  • appropriate privacy and security settings within third-party systems

No electronic system can honestly guarantee zero risk, and we do not claim that any method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

12. How long do we keep your information?

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, regulatory and operational requirements.

Different types of information may need to be retained for different periods.

13. Your Client Portal

Your Client Portal is designed to provide a secure place for information relating to your Biology of You™ journey.

This may include information you provide, your reports, laboratory information, tracking data, recommendations and, over time, information showing how your health picture and recommendations have changed.

Please keep your account credentials confidential and contact us if you believe your account or information has been accessed without authorisation.

14. Your rights and choices

Depending upon where you live and the privacy laws applicable to you, you may have rights relating to your personal information. These may include the right to:

  • ask what information we hold about you
  • request access to your information
  • request correction of inaccurate information
  • request deletion in certain circumstances
  • restrict or object to certain processing
  • withdraw consent where processing relies upon consent
  • request transfer of certain information
  • ask questions about how your information is being used
  • raise a privacy concern or complaint with us
  • lodge a complaint with an independent data-protection regulator, where one has jurisdiction

Withdrawal of consent does not necessarily affect processing that occurred lawfully before consent was withdrawn, and there may be circumstances in which we are legally required to retain certain information.

Privacy enquiries: privacy@thebiologyofyou.com

15. Education, training and development

Providing your information for your own Biology of You™ service does not automatically give us permission to use your case for practitioner education, training or development of The Biology of You™ Method.

Where we wish to use appropriately de-identified information for these purposes, we will ask for separate, optional consent.

Choosing not to provide this optional consent will not affect your Biology of You™ service.

Any testimonial, photograph, video, identifiable case study or other marketing use requires separate specific permission.

16. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology, processes or legal obligations change.

The current version and date of the most recent update will be available on our website.
